“I’ll Be Missing You” by Puff Daddy, Faith Evans and 112

The hit single that also speaks of love and loss

puff daddy no way out album coverFor everyone who loved the big hits of the nineties, this might be a great send off song. “I’ll Be Missing You,” while a Grammy-winning single and classic R&B song, also touches on a few timeless themes including love, loss and memory. As many probably know already, Puff Daddy (now just Diddy) released the single in 1997 in memory of Notorious B.I.G., who died on March 9, 1997. This song pays tribute to the rapper who made waves in the music business and keeps his memory alive every time it is played. The soothing melody and thoughtful lyrics also make for beautiful memorial music and personal ode to a loved one who’s passed away. To set you in a reflective state of mind, here’s a look at some of the lyrics:

“Every step I take, every move I make

Every single day, every time I pray

I’ll be missing you

Thinkin of the day, when you went away

What a life to take, what a bond to break

I’ll be missing you

It’s kinda hard with you not around

Know you in heaven smilin down

Watchin us while we pray for you

Every day we pray for you

Til the day we meet again

In my heart is where I’ll keep you friend

Memories give me the strength I need to proceed

Strength I need to believe

My thoughts Big I just can’t define

Wish I could turn back the hands of time..”
