Dear Diary:

My sister and I were tending plants at her Manhattan community garden when a woman approached and asked whether the ashes of her recently deceased father might be spread in the garden.

Before my sister had a chance to reply, the woman, clearly exasperated, handed over a rumpled paper bag, saying: “Here, please take this. His name was Abe, and I’ve had more than enough of him.”

With that, she was gone.

Read the rest of the story as to what the two women did with the cremation ashes.
