Our Tip of the Week: Estate planning can be an overwhelming process. Oftentimes, we do not know the exact moment when death will approach. Therefore, it is very important to plan the futures for all types of your assets, especially the digital ones, in this era of mobile banking and social media.

How-to Suggestion: We spoke with estate planning attorney Nancy Williamson in 2013, who told us to “plan your digital assets. Write down passwords and give a key to the person you trust.” This will prevent unnecessary headaches and hassles for the loved ones you leave behind. Prior to your death and during your estate planning, it would also be helpful to do a test run with your trusted person to make sure all of the information — passwords and the like — you are providing work properly. This can ease your loved ones’ worries when they try to access your valuable assets after your death.
