Our Tip of the Week: Gather family and friends in an intimate circle for an uplifting circle meditation remembrance ceremony. When hearts are heavy in sorrow, joining in silence and contemplation intensely bonds all present. Hearts unfold in a deep meditative state with the inner peace of flowing love. Chimes, bells, mantras or poetry readings divide the silence into ceremonial ritual. These sounds float in the air along with the smell of flowers, incense or essential oils to remind guests of the bygone loved one. A meditation ceremony can be a uniquely beautiful experience.

How-to Suggestion: Formal or informal, a homemade DIY circular display establishes the focal point of the circle meditation. Plan ahead and collect meaningful objects. Ask others who will attend if they have any personal items that would enhance the altar-like centerpiece.

Draw inspiration from the qualities and lifestyle of the person you’re remembering. Use found elements of nature, then add items such as candles, incense, lanterns, stones, decorative plates or bowls. Purchase flowers at a flower shop, or pick them from your garden or a local field. Create the display just a few hours before family and friends arrive so the flowers last. A trick to make flowers last longer is to immediately cut the stems under water, then keep them in the water till you create your display. This glorious, sacred ceremony can take place indoors or outdoors.
