Give A Care! Holiday Campaign Thanks Caregivers for Their Dedication

This holiday season, show a caregiver you know that you appreciate their year-round efforts

Aging coupleYou probably don’t have to try too hard to think of someone who takes time out of his or her life to be a caregiver for aging parents, disabled children, or other loved ones in need. We all know someone. That’s why the Center for Community Change is running the “Give a Care” holiday campaign this holiday season to “thank caregivers for their selfless contributions to others in their lives.”

In addition to helping us show our appreciation and highlighting the dedication of caregivers, the campaign aims to open a dialogue on what it means to be a caregiver and how important it is in our society.

The website and a video that thanks caregivers and their loved ones can be found at:www.wegiveacare.org. The video shows one day in the life of three caregivers: a working mother with three kids; a father of a child with special needs, and a young woman helping to care for her grandmother. Watch the video below, or click here to view it on YouTube.

“This important campaign gives us an opportunity to give credit to those who so rarely receive it but certainly deserve it,” said Deepak Bhargava, Executive Director, Center for Community Change. “We are excited about starting the dialogue on the need to help those that dedicate their lives to helping their loved ones.”

Share the video with a caregiver you know this holiday season by entering their information at the We Give a Care website.

From the press release:  “Long term, the campaign aims to educate lawmakers so they will work to pass laws that will benefit caregivers, including a Caregiver Credit Act, which would allow caregivers who leave the workforce to care for their children or sick parents and partners to earn Social Security credits during that time.”

Throughout the year, the Center for Community Change offers support to low-income people and people of color, and their communities.
