Shadow Gallery’s Song, “Say Goodbye to The Morning”

Shadow Gallery, a contemporary progressive metal band from the 80’s, is known for its wide range of sounds, from heavy to mellow. Both highly charged and emotionally sweet, the tune “Say Goodbye to the Morning” paints a story along with its lyrics.  It mixes in soothing instrumental parts to emote “flying high above” as “troubled waters carry you away.” Elements of “winter’s bitter cold” and “fire” are added to depict the physical experience of death and loss. The song sends  us the message that no matter what happens when you die, it’s not over. This emotional piece of memorial music allows us to feel how lonely death is, in an intense, heavy metal way. It ends with a promise of an afterlife.
