You adored your loved one. Just not his or her fashion sense (i.e. anything triangle-collared circa 1970). At the same time, it’s hard to let go of someone’s things as your grieve; they helped define their individuality.

How can you preserve the items of a loved one in your own home while staying true to yourself? Here are three tips to make the button bouquet, which takes the most versatile part of that famous retro shirt to create something completely new:

1) Button Up : Gather the buttons! You can’t hold on to everything your loved one used to own, and the process of plucking (the button) and then chucking (the shirt), will be difficult but cathartic.

2) Supply Yourself:
Find yourself some jewelry pliers, scissors and wire (preferably green).

3) Decorate:: Place the bouquet in a vase, hang them from the ceiling or put them in a child’s room as a sweet reminder of that beloved someone.
