This holiday season, create a sparkle theme for your loved one who sparkled in life and will continue sparkling in death. When planning a memorial event or thinking of ways to celebrate your loved one during Christmas and the New Year, these ideas will help put the spotlight on the one who lit up your life.

There are many ways to add a sparkle theme to a memorial service or celebration of life. Set your tables at a memorial event with a bright, shiny table runner to set the tone for a time of celebration and joyful memories. Or use mason jars sprayed with gold and glitter for flowers on the tables and serve beverages in DIY glitter party cups. The jars will add a shimmering ambiance to your space.

If your loved one was cremated, you might also ask the guests to join in the scattering of the cremation ashes. Mix small amounts of the beloved’s ashes with inert sparkles of old-fashioned mica glitter. Put the sparkly cremation ashes in small packets of glassine with a hole punch at the top and a ribbon. Guests can join in to scatter the ashes in streaming sunlight or by the light of the moon.
