Our Tip of the Week: There’s a reason candles are (often) a staple of memorial or celebration-of-life ceremonies. The second you enter the place of ceremony, a candle draws you in with its subdued, quiet warmth. Creating a portrait candle joins that sensation with another: the feeling of seeing your loved one (literally) glowing.
How-to Suggestion: First, find a picture of your loved one. Then, gather some vellum, a glass jar and double sided tape (you will also need access to a photo printer). The craft is easy enough: print the photo (on vellum — it’s what makes the light shine through) and wrap it around the glass, then secure it with tape. It’s a simple craft, but the right materials are crucial.
Finally, you can bring your candle to the memorial ceremony, and then back into the home!
