Our Tip of the Week: The smell of cinnamon abounds throughout the holiday season, bringing cheer and warmth to any environment (especially when coming from the oven). But aside from these happy associations, have you ever wondered why cinnamon is just such a joy to smell? It turns out that cinnamon has a multitude of health benefits, and is often used to help alleviate rheumatism, fatigue and depression. Mixing up a batch of this “cinnamon spice” can bring calm into the home of one who is bereaved.

How-to Suggestion: You’ll need a handful of cinnamon sticks, about a 1/4 cup of jojoba oil, a few cloves and whole nutmeg. It’s really up to you to add what you like; the “spice” can be as simple as a few cinnamon sticks or “musked” up with some pine needles. Fill a saucepan up about two inches and throw the ingredients and slowly simmer until that comforting scent fills the air — voilà!
